Monster Hunter Stories is a role-playing game spin-off of the popular Monster Hunter franchise, but features a drastically different gameplay focus. Unlike previous titles in the franchise, Monster Hunter Stories lets players take on the role of a Rider instead of a Hunter, and are able to take part in a traditional turn-based battle system. Major changes and additions featured in this title include hatching eggs and befriending monsters, battling alongside them, executing special kinship techniques, and customizing monsters' abilities and appearance

By Stuart CullenMonster Hunter Stories is over ten years old and definitely shows its limitations - however, it's still a cracking wee JRPG you can happily get lost in.

ByWith the release of Stories on Xbox, Capcom has made it clear that this spin-off series is more than just a minor side project. Bringing these two remastered entries to the platform is meant to familiarize Xbox players, especially JRPG enthusiasts and fans of the Monster Hunter universe, with Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. This could be the moment when the series evolves into something akin to Pokémon, a continually expanding and evergreen franchise. Each new creature added to the mainline games can become a fresh Monstie in Stories, giving the series the potential to grow into a self-sustaining ecosystem of its own.

By Jesús C.R.Monster Hunter Stories on Xbox Series is one of those beautiful paradoxes: a game born to be small that ends up feeling huge because of what it conveys. It lacks the harshness, technical challenge, and ferocity of the main series...

By Celt BrennyIf you are a fan of the Monster Hunter Series or just a general fan of Monster Collection / Turn Based RPGs this is a very impressive game that just isn’t a simple remaster it really does shine. I find myself using cloud based services to get that fix of just one more battle and making progress slowly that gives me that dopamine of my youth. Not to mention it’s filled to the brim with charm, deep but approachable turn based combat that gives you that push to spend time away from the story to gather as many eggs and grind EXP and lose track of time.

By Amirhossein DehnaviThe Monster Hunter Stories Collection is a compelling package for JRPG newcomers, offering hundreds of hours of content. Playing both back-to-back reveals a fascinating evolution from a quaint 3DS experiment to a polished, modern sequel. This is the ultimate "comfort food" JRPG. If you want a big-budget, dragon-filled Pokémon, this is your best bet. If you want the strategic depth of mainline Monster Hunter, look elsewhere.
