GreedFall is a single-player action RPG set in a fictional world inspired by 17th-century Baroque Europe. Players take the role of a diplomat arriving on a remote island inhabited by natives with supernatural abilities, now contested by colonial factions from various nations. The game emphasizes player choice, offering combat, diplomacy, and stealth approaches to quests, with decisions affecting relationships between the island's competing factions. A prequel, GreedFall 2: The Dying World, was released in 2026.
About the story
De Sardet, a noble of the Merchant Congregation, travels to the newly colonized island of Teer Fradee to serve as diplomatic envoy to their cousin Constantin, the island's newly appointed governor. Their mission carries an additional urgency: the continent is being ravaged by a deadly plague called the malichor, and the Congregation hopes the island's exotic resources may hold a cure. Upon arrival, De Sardet discovers the island's native people possess a supernatural connection to the land itself, and they worship a powerful being tied to the island's very essence. Caught between the invading colonial powers and the increasingly hostile natives fighting to protect their home, De Sardet must navigate fragile alliances and uncover the island's secrets while racing to find a remedy before the plague consumes everything they left behind.

Critic Reviews
GameGrin
By Jase TaylorGreedFall boasts a unique, semi-open world in which to immerse yourself, but is held back by the limitations of its game engine.
GameMAG
By GameMAGGreedFall for PlayStation 5 remains one of the best role-playing games of recent times, but with a much better overall presentation. As for the new expansion - it's something aimed to die-hard fans of the original campaign.
God is a Geek
By Mick FraserFans of the genre will still enjoy the broad narrative, exciting combat and deep RPG mechanics. Those returning just for the DLC might be disappointed, but newcomers will have a good time with Greedfall Gold Edition.
Everyeye.it
By Icilio BellanimaGreedfall's next-gen update undoubtedly makes it more beautiful to see, and in some ways also to play, but it does not change the imperfect DNA that did not allow it to shine at launch, and that continues to clip its wings even now, two years later.
DASHGAMER.com
By Dan RizzoYes, a guilty pleasure-style conscience supports this notion of recommendation, but Greedfall’s excellence is encompassed by its catalogue of countless offerings that are to be discovered through a litany of options, and paths that are carved out in each player’s experience.
