Chariot is a humorous physics-based couch co-op platformer in which a brave princess and her suitor carry a funeral wagon through ancient caves. They must fend off swarms of looters while amassing riches to bury the King's remains in a worthy gold-filled tomb. If only that dead King would keep quiet... The Chariot's large wheels and long tethers allow the heroes to reach higher ground, swing across chasms and perform all sorts of impressive maneuvers. Extract riches from the very walls of the caves in multiple environments, and make your way to the exit by avoiding envious looters or by beating them back as they attempt to steal your hard-earned loot! With skill-testing coordination mechanics and thrilling physics-based stunts required, Chariot will definitely please couch coop enthusiasts as teamwork and cooperation unlocks new possibilities.
About the story
Cariot is the story of a princess whose task is to lay her father's remains in his final resting place. With the help of her fiancé, she has to take this heavy chariot holding the king’s remains through underground mazes in order to reach a sepulcher fit for His Majesty. However, the king's ghost, bound to the chariot, has quite a temper and insists that he be buried with vast amounts of riches. As the couple progresses, tunneling deeper and deeper underground, they'll have to stray off the main path to get their hands on precious gems.

Puzzles that were fairly easy with a partner become daunting obstacles when flying solo. Each way to play has its merits, and the game length can effectively be doubled by going down both paths. Beautiful presentation and a near complete lack of glitches round out the package that makes Chariot one of the best games to come out for the Wii U.

Although initially often frustrating, you do grow to embrace the challenging nature of Chariot. Solo gamers may want to approach with caution as, although it's still a decent experience, this isn't a game carved out with single player as its main focus. Instead you'll be left with a somewhat hampered campaign that's equally as frustrating but far less rewarding than that of co-op mode. However, those who are able to enlist a gaming partner of similar ability will get the most out of Chariot, and the unique experience it offers makes it far easier to recommend.
