Sniper Elite 4 combines genre-defining ballistics, breathless emergent stealth, and gripping third person action across the largest and most diverse environments ever seen in a Sniper Elite game. Set in the aftermath of its award-winning predecessor, Sniper Elite 4 continues the series’ World War Two heritage by transporting players across the beautiful Italian peninsula, from sun-drenched Mediterranean coastal towns, to colossal Nazi mega structures, daunting forests and giddying mountain monasteries inspired by Monte Cassino. Covert agent and elite marksman Karl Fairburne must fight alongside the brave men and women of the Italian Resistance to help free their country from the yoke of Fascism, and defeat a terrifying new threat with the potential to halt the Allied fightback in Europe before it’s even begun. If his mission fails, there will be no Operation Overlord, no D-Day landings, and no Victory in Europe.

Now and then I love a good stealth game and that is what I have today. Sniper Elite 4 combines stealth gameplay with being a sniper very well, and I believe that this is also a wonderful port. So how does this game manage that? Let’s find out.

Ultimately, Sniper Elite 4 not only carries on a tradition of excellence for the franchise, but elevates it to new heights. The focus on stealth and long-range combat provides for a rather unique experience among shooters. Larger levels and multi-use items provide even more freedom over past entries to tackle missions in whatever way you want. The biggest complaint is that finding an online multiplayer match may be difficult without friends, but if you can find one, it works well. If you're looking for a new shooter to dive into, Sniper Elite 4 should be at the top of your list.

The Switch has now been out for about 3 years, in that time we have seen quite a few older Triple A titles get re-released onto the Switch. Games like Skyrim and LA Noire and newer games like Doom 2016. Of the many titles we have seen varied performance.

Sniper Elite 4 is a title that will appeal to both casual players and fans of the genre, especially those who prefer stealth. The Switch port has some visual problems that take away some of the charm, but the gameplay experience is good. The game is not a Triple A, but it achieves the same quality as one.

Rebellion keeps impressing me with how well they’ve been able to port their more hardware demanding games for the Switch. Sniper Elite 4 is, without a doubt, their best title in the platform so far. It features great visuals, a surprisingly stable framerate, and the best level design in the series so far.
