Hitman 2 offers a variety of options in the gameplay department. It also allows for exploration and trial and error. The additional modes adds even more replay value and continued play as we transition from standard single player games into games as a service, this is an example of a great combination of both worlds. 47 has never looked so good and so deadly.

More of the same can be a good thing, and Hitman 2 does that by offering more of what makes the first game so incredible, with some extras added on the side.

There’s something freeing about the trust that IO Interactive places in the player, giving them a sandbox and allowing them to decide how they’re going to have fun with Hitman 2. This game may not have reached the incredible highs of 2016’s Hitman, but it offers improvements in a lot of the game’s central components while experimenting with new ways to improve on and expand the core gameplay.

Hitman 2 is not leaps and bounds better or even different than its predecessor, as it feels less like a sequel and more like the second season. However, it manages to hit the mark where it truly matters with expansive level designs and a wealth of gameplay options that makes playing through the same missions multiple times consistently fun but feel different every time.

Hitman 2 brings in more of what I loved about the first game and then some. The tight gameplay, the serious but comical undertone, and the plethora of challenging bits to accomplish make Hitman 2 an amazing package. It’s unfortunate that IO forces you to connect to a server to actually access the challenge information, let alone be able to save your progression of them. It leaves a nasty stain on such a pristine, near perfect white suit.
