Critic Reviews
The well-weathered gamer can easily spot its debt to Counter-Strike and Overwatch, but that shouldn't dismiss how those mechanical & aesthetic philosophies succinctly fuse together through Riot's own due diligence. As the saying almost goes: it's more than the sum of its plagiarized parts.
Despite missing a few features from the PC version and eye-watering prices for customisation items, Riot has crafted an incredible shooter in Valorant and done a stellar job at transitioning it over to PS5. It's a unique breed of multiplayer shooter that won't be for everyone, but those looking for an intense, competitive experience won't find anything better on Sony's console.
Valorant on consoles is a true success. Console gamers finally have the chance to play a very competitive, precise and demanding game, far from what we are used to find on these platforms. With its mix of Counter-Strike and Overwatch 2, Valorant is an atypical game that requires to be tamed but that becomes quickly addictive and quite incredibly fun.
As a worthwhile experience that's only improved over the years, Valorant is a great option for competitive shooter fans on consoles.
Valorant has all the elements of a great FPS game. It's engaging, engrossing and provides strong positive feedback. It challenges players both mentally and physically, making it an excellent example of competitive game design.
