Turbo Kid is a BMX-powered pixel-art Metroidvania gore-fest based on the film of the same name.
About the story
Turbo Kid is a gory homage to classic Metroidvanias of the ‘90s. Based on the cult post-apocalyptic film of the same name, the game serves as a bridge between the first film and the sequel which is in the works. The game is inspired by metroidvania/run-and-gun platformer classic like Super Metroid, Mega Man X, and Out of the World, with modern mechanics and storytelling techniques. The player will travel through five different zones in the order they see fit, meeting friends and foes along the way. They will have to defeat all the bosses in order to make it to the other side of the wasteland. Narrative elements are included, but are non-invasive, meaning one can skip them by simply not interacting with them making the game extremely repayable and speed-run friendly.

LevelUp
By Santiago VillicañaTurbo Kid is a fantastic metroidvania that gives the player a lot of freedom and choice. It presents a lot of great ideas, references and moments, and it has a lot of replay value that makes the experience totally worth it.
God is a Geek
ByTurbo Kid is a Metroidvania where you can summon a bike at the push of a button, and that is absolutely as cool as it sounds.
The Games Machine
By Emanuele FeronatoTurbo Kid could have played dirty and stuffed in an endless barrage of citations for their own sake without caring too much about the content, sure to win over a large audience of nostalgic gamers anyway. Instead, it has been created with a genuine love for the metroidvania genre, adding to the typical skills such as jumping, crouching and climbing, also a large set of stunts typical of the BMX world, with a level design that takes full advantage of them. The result is interesting and successfully distracts from a look that has been seen many times before and from a main quest that adds nothing new.
Geeks & Com
By Mélanie Boutin-ChartierTurbo Kid (the game) is the perfect adaptation inspired by Turbo Kid (the movie). I couldn't have imagined a different gameplay style, graphics, color palette and soundtrack to represent the universe depicted in the original work.
