Fallout 76 is an online action role-playing game and the first multiplayer entry in the Fallout series. Set in 2102 in Appalachia, West Virginia, players control a resident of Vault 76 who ventures into the open world 25 years after a nuclear war. The game features exploration, questing, base building, and combat against mutated creatures and hostile factions. It can be played solo or cooperatively, with players sharing servers and engaging in trade or PvP combat.
About the story
Twenty-five years after the Great War, residents of Vault 76 emerge on Reclamation Day to re-colonize the Appalachian wasteland. The player character discovers that a mysterious plague called the Scorched Plague, spread by massive mutated creatures known as Scorchbeasts, has wiped out most of the region's inhabitants. Guided by the Vault Overseer's secret mandate to secure nuclear missile silos, the player investigates the fates of several factions that tried to stop the plague, including the Responders, the Free States, and the Brotherhood of Steel. After gaining the support of MODUS, an Enclave AI beneath the Whitespring Resort, the player locates the Scorchbeast nest, launches a nuclear strike, and defeats the Scorchbeast Queen, shattering the creatures' hive mind and neutralizing the threat to the wider wasteland.

Critic Reviews
IGN
By Travis NorthupIn 2024, Fallout 76 finally captures a lot of the post-nuclear experience I love. It trades roleplaying decision-making for multiplayer shooter antics, but it still needs more endgame content and a fair inventory solution.
Tom's Guide
By Marc McLarenFallout 76: Steel Reign isn't much to shout about by itself, but it offers a good overview of just how far the game has come since its disastrous launch.
Pixelophobia
By Łukasz AnkudoAs of the end of 2019 Fallout 76 is everything Fallout fan can expect from online Fallout experience. Plenty of walking, collecting scrap, and killing everything that still lives. Only thing is that now you can explore with other players, mostly friendly folk.
Pixel Arts
By Danial DehghaniFallout 76 is a disappointing game. The existence of the Fallout name on it and, of course, the relatively large propaganda it launched for Bethesda had many hoping for a well-designed multiplayer game, but the end product is now unplayable. What I'm sure about is that we are with a Publisher that faced this crisis a few years ago when it came to The Elder Scrolls Online and was able to contain it well. Nobody can recommend buying Fallout 76 at the moment, but maybe another year, the game will become the same fan-favorite for Fallout fans.
INDIANTVCZ
By Ondřej RysAlthough we were waiting half of the year after its release. All in all, a lot of bugs and lags, an empty sad and ugly-drawn world that likes to crash every moment, nothing new has been added besides the possibility of pulling its camp on its back. These are the main reasons why the new Fallout 76 will only take such a low score by us. It is also warning to everyone who would still consider buying it - don't do it.
