By Marc-Antoine Bergeron CoteThere is not much to say about Prison Tycoon Under New Management. The title developed by the team at Abylight Studios offers a management experience similar to what is already on the market. While prisoner rehabilitation is an excellent feature, it doesn't seem to be taken to its fullest extent. I wish the developers would have fully embraced their ideas to the fullest. The construction of our prison is also limited while the art direction is already aging. The game unfortunately doesn't reach its goal of being better than the franchise it is based on.

By Mark SteighnerPrison Tycoon: Under New Management checks off the basics of a building and sim game. There’s even some low-key, pleasant, mindless fun to be had for a while. Pretty quickly, though, the game’s absence of creativity and simplistic approach start to overshadow the experience. The lack of a real story or more than one mode further restricts the game’s depth and longevity. It’s not that prison games have to be about violence and punishment but in a sim, drama or interesting incident have to come from somewhere. Ideally, it’s from giving the player the tools to create it or emergent systems that allow it. Prison Tycoon: Under New Management locks them up.
