Once Human is a multiplayer open-world survival game set in a strange, post-apocalyptic future. Unite with friends to fight monstrous enemies, uncover secret plots, compete for resources, and build your own territory. Once, you were merely human. Now, you have the power to remake the world.
About the story
Unveiled by the research group Rosetta, "Stardust" is no ordinary substance. It is intricately linked to a host of weird phenomena that defy comprehension. Initially heralded as a catalyst for tech development, Rosetta's exploration of stardust ultimately triggered "Starfall": an eruption of the Great Ones burst forth from Rosetta's experimental monolith, disseminating "Stardust" far and wide. This unleashed a chain of anomalies: from biological mutations to societal disorder and the abrupt collapse of human civilization. However, a special group of individuals infected by stardust did not lose their sanity or mutate. Instead, they emerged with abilities and became known as "Metas". They soon became essential in the struggle against stardust and the endeavor to revive civilization. However, due to differing ideologies, the "Metas" split into different factions. Some, adhering to Rosetta’s idea of continuously evolving by absorbing deviant energy, choose to continue to serve Rosetta, and are known as the "Evolutionists". Some admire the greatness of the Great One and escape Rosetta to welcome the arrival of the lords of the Great One, known as the "Ascendants". Still, others hope to explore a new order that harmonizes with the deviations and deviants. You are one of them, and the organization you belong to is known as the "Mayfly". In a world teeming with deviations, the new order is written by you.

Once Human might be the first crafting game I find myself coming back to regularly thanks to solid combat fundamentals, a perfectly-tuned crafting loop, and a level of polish that’s often all too rare in the genre.

Fans of survival MMOs should get their share of resource gathering, combat, and building in Once Human. For a free-to-play game, it offers quite an impressive playtime to enjoy without any constrictions, and the production values are quite good overall. It can be a riot for solo players for some long hours but it gets more enjoyable in a group, and the issues that be aren’t enough to deter any player who is having fun with it. Give it a shot and the most you can lose is the time it took you to install it and play for a while.

Once Human is an immensely playable, atmospheric and addictive third-person survival crafter with a huge world to go out and explore, alone or with others.

Once Human offers a deeply moreish open world scavenge-em-up, but weak action and generic clutter hold it back.
