Asterix & Obelix XXL 3: The Crystal Menhir is an action platformer and the only game in the XXL series which offers cooperative gameplay. Platforming is very different to the previous games in the series: the player can no longer jump vertically and should be more careful when moving around. The Crystal Menhir is used to clear obstacles from paths and interact with mechanisms.
About the story
One day, the village druid Getafix receives a strange letter. It is from Avina Gandir, the high priestess of Thule. She warns the druid of a grave threat to his people and asks him to take a mysterious Menhir out of its hiding place.

By Diogo Caeirosterix & Obelix XXL 3: The Crystal Menhir lands on the Nintendo Switch with some of the best elements of the Astérix comic series, such as a marvelous visual environment and fun dialogues, as well as an additional top-notch vocal work. Its gameplay doesn't rise up to the same threshold though, as its very simplistic and repetitive mechanics and flat plot make this an experience that doesn't go higher. As such, The Crystal Menhir is mostly recommended for players who want a simple game, rather than a complex experience.

It is not very well understood why the game has been rescued from the trunk of memories, and why it has done so by changing the style of play for an air view beat'em up, but although the game fails to stand out at all, its simple control and the interesting proposal of some of their levels can entertain enough, especially to fans, who will know how to find the added value to the game.

The puzzles are entertaining and keep getting more difficult to challenge you. It is still not in the ballpark of where the SNES games were, but this is a fun game to enjoy together in coop!

By Impozible JulinThe feeling that is left with this third title of the XXL series is to have a good title of Asterix in hand, but not a great continuation of the decapitating games that captivated us on PS2. It is not the roasted wild boar, with its crispy skin and smoky aroma, which we hoped to inflate the tooth. But until then, until it arrives, this fan is worth it.
