Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is the first game of the Resident Evil series to switch from 3rd-person to fully 1st-person perspective. A complete refresh of gameplay systems simultaneously propels the survival horror experience to another level. It is as much horror as it is survival, boosting up scare elements and minimizing downright shooting action. The game allows use of Sony's PSVR Headset to play in VR mode.
About the story
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is set in mid-2017 somewhere in the southern United States after the dramatic events of Resident Evil 6. The game features a new protagonist named Ethan Winters, a civilian searching for his missing wife Mia which leads him to a derelict plantation mansion occupied by an infected family.

The fact that Resident Evil 7 performed so poorly when other cloud entries have been comparatively strong really brings home the fact that, although mileage may vary, these issues are completely out of your control. On our evidence, there’s simply no way we can recommend Resident Evil 7 to Switch owners, even if it’s the only option available. It’s a great game utterly ruined by awful performance, and yet more evidence for cloud gaming skeptics that the tech just isn't yet consistent enough to be viable.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard always faced an uphill battle in comparison to the two other PS5 upgrades, and the mountain has proven too much. While the game looks and runs better, it's still a long way off Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. It's like playing a really good-looking PS4 game rather than something native to PS5. Still, at least the game itself remains a cracker.

At first I was a bit sceptical about this new game by Capcom, but after a long session, I can tell you I really enjoyed it. Even if it seems completely disconnected from the previous Resident Evils, and there is no mention of any famous character of the saga, this game keeps the main features of the brand. The first person view makes everything scarier, engaging the player in that perfect rhythm made up by the gameplay. If you’re fans of horror video games, you must play it. Capcom succeeded on its purpose, giving a fresh restart to Resident Evil saga.

Despite the changes made, the end of Zoe picks up the witness of Resident Evil 7, offering a great gaming experience and maintaining the change of direction of the saga made by the previous one. Although it is a good ending to close the story, its high price and its short duration are not so much. Even so, it's worth playing.

The frights are also varied (as you’d expect from a horror game) and 10x worse in VR, there are times which are just god damn creepy with sounds all around you, and other times where they’ll chuck in a jump scare which often (always) made me scream like a little girl.
