Days Gone is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Bend Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Released in April 2019 for PlayStation 4 and later for PC in May 2021, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where players control Deacon St. John, a drifter and bounty hunter navigating a landscape overrun by "Freakers," zombie-like creatures created by a global pandemic. The gameplay focuses on exploration, combat, and survival elements, with players able to use various weapons, craft supplies, and upgrade Deacon’s motorcycle, essential for travelling across the vast and hostile environment. Days Gone combines narrative-driven missions with an open world filled with dynamic events, enemy camps, and environmental challenges.
About the story
Deacon St. John, a former outlaw and drifter, searches for purpose in a world ravaged by a pandemic that has turned much of humanity into mindless, violent creatures called Freakers. Driven by the hope that his wife, Sarah, may still be alive, he navigates the dangers of the Pacific Northwest, facing hostile factions, freakish threats, and his own haunting memories. As he fights for survival, Deacon forms new alliances, confronts his past, and seeks answers about his wife’s fate, uncovering harsh truths about resilience and loss in a world on the edge.

Critic Reviews
By Clayton Daley
So the next few reviews that will be coming out, I'm aware I'm super late on. In this case the review is Days Gone for the PS4. Days Gone is a 3'rd person story based shooter. It features a large open world, Story and side missions, different things to upgrade and craft. Developed by the Bend Studio the game came out in April of 2019 and just made its way to the PS4's streaming service PlayStation Now. In short go check it out, its a fun shooter with plenty of filler and things to do, its biggest draw being the massive amount of on screen enemies the game can handle (Even better on the PS4 Pro).

The developers from Bend Studio managed to process the story of Days Gone in an original way. Unfortunately, the only interesting and innovative element of the game is the fight with the horde, and that's damn little. Every time the game starts to lift you out of your chair with something interesting, it immediately has to spoil it with something. The imbalance in important parts is so obvious here that it ruins the overall impression. Days Gone is a completely average title that will find its fans, but I'm afraid that the developers bet on the certainty of a second part so much that they didn't want to put all the aces they had ready for the second part into the game. And it's a shame, this could have been an excellent game that could have easily had two more sequels.

Whether you dabbled in Days Gone previously and want to give it a second chance, or diving into the world for the first time. The PC port of Days Gone is a solid experience.

It's the different approach to Days Gone's storytelling that sets it apart from most other open world games. Despite this, the elongated storyline can make some parts feel like a slog but even so it's very much worth your time to experience it.
