“Once Again” is an interactive story game about a boy who spends his summers wandering between past and present. After meeting her, summer will never be the same again.

About the story

If you could travel through time, who’s the first person you’d meet? When teenage boy Sia opens his eyes after making a wish on a boring summertime birthday, he finds himself in an unfamiliar time, in front of a familiar someone who he never had the chance to meet. Together, she and Sia will form a bond through photography, while recapturing their lost time into rolls upon rolls of film. Who is she, and what journey awaits this star-crossed duo? Is a goodbye an ending, or a promise for a reunion? Let’s find the answers together, across time and space, in Once Again.

In some respects, Once Again is a stronger storytelling experience than a gaming one, but both the heartfelt core message and its artistic presentation will surely resonate with some.

I really liked this visual novel; it was certainly unique. I’m not usually a big fan of these kinds of games, but there was something magical about this one. The theme is great, the story of Once Again is heartbreakingly gorgeous, the music is good, and the game does a great job of having unique art for each panel. I find that most visual novels don’t do that; there is always a lot of repeated artwork that can get dull after a while. This is a fairly inexpensive game, so if you love moving visuals novels, Once Again is a great game for you.

Once Again has a fantastic foundation, but the follow-through just isn’t enough. We’re dying to know more about Sia and his time-traveling adventures with his mother - it’s just a shame that things are over before they even begin.
