Fiend Legion (2018)

Fallen Legion+ is a game that has some nice ideas that could have been developed in a better way. Nonetheless, we think they still have a good potential for future chapters in the series.

Bringing together a pair of budget RPGs, Fallen Legion + represents excellent value for money, but that worth is highly conditional. The artwork is truly inspired—sometimes even breathtaking—but serves a world and story that do not deserve it. Adherents of fantasy war tales will likely find enjoyment from the narrative, though a general audience will fail to be enraptured. Aside from the graphics, the battle system is the game's standout feature, yet even this highlight is let down by the poorly-considered ancillary mechanics that make the Fallen Legion games into anaemic RPGs.

That's pretty much Fallen Legion in a nutshell – it has its fair share of ups and downs but I still really enjoyed my time with it.

Fallen Legion tries something new for the JRPG genre and succeeds, but the new mechanics need more variation to keep it interesting when it's two full-length titles packed into one.

With Richard now having reviewed the original two entries of Fallen Legion: Sins of an Empire on the PS4 and Fallen Legion: Flames of Rebellion on both the Vita and the PS4, it was my turn on the PC version that combined the two into a single title. With the options to either ignite the flames of rebellion or tackle the sins set ahead of you, I found myself often undecided as to how I felt about the adventures and the package as a whole.
