About the story

Things were going well for Azra, the sheltered Royal Librarian. There were books to sort, dust, and put away, important royal documents to transcribe. All this was swept away by the deadly plague that devastated the Kingdom of Ash. The plague killed quickly, so quickly that no one has the time to bury the dead, instead they are thrown, without ceremony, into the Pit. Azra, infected with the plague, is cast into the Pit. Soon, she finds herself in the Half-Way World, the place between life and death and learns of her true power--that of being able to bring anyone into the Half-Way World with her. Now, she must traverse the Pit in the hopes of finding the cause of the plague and must fight to not only save herself but the Kingdom as well.

Defender's Quest represents something new and unique. By dipping the tower defense “chocolate” into some RPG “peanut butter”, Level Up Labs has created a Reese's Cup-level classic. Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten DX' gameplay is rock solid, reflecting the six years of refinements that the small development team has made to the core title. If you have any interest at all in the tower defense genre, you owe it to yourself to check this one out.

If you're looking for a fun and challenging tower defense/RPG on PlayStation 4, then Defenders Quest: Valley of the Forgotten DX will scratch that itch. If you ever played Final Fantasy Crystal Defenders, then you'll feel right at home when you take this one for a spin on PS4. There's a lot of content to play, plenty of customization options and a ton of potential combinations for your team of defenders and the skill and abilities they can use. With each character having its own skill tree, if you want to 100% the game, you'll need to spend some extra time leveling them up, but this will also help you work towards adding a new Platinum trophy to your collection.

Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten DX is a peculiar mix of tower-defense and rpg. Thanks to an intriguing story and a complex and satisfying gameplay, the game will appeal to all those who love strategy games, even with its lack of diversity in enemies.

Bloons 5 TD used to be my favourite tower defence game yet now I tell everyone it's Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten DX. It just goes to show that not everything has to look all glamorous and pretty in order to be a solid game. Personally, I'm not a fan of the pixel art style in general, but with this game, I found it to be very charming and shows that the vast amount of development work went into its gameplay rather than the visuals – which still look good but it isn't going to win an award for them.

Defener's Quest is a 6-year old game that finally showed up for consoles. It's too expensive, but offers quite fun experience only hindered by suddenly spiking difficulty in some levels to immediately go back to normal a level after. Isn't it fun to 'die' at the beginning of the game?
