Enemy nations aim to conquer the continent as well and will attack your bases to do so. The battle for the continent will differ with each play through. Accumulate stories and events from the six nations in the Records. A new game based on the 1998 PlayStation game Brigandine, which was remade in 2000 as Brigandine: Grand Edition, that will probably be revealed as part of the 2019 Tokyo Game Show in September.
About the story
Time passes on Runersia in seasons. Each season consists of an Organization Phase and Attack Phase. During the Organization Phase, knights and monsters of various classes and skills are organized into troops in preparation for upcoming battles. During the Attack Phase, turn-based troop battles take place on a map made up of hexagonal spaces. Make use of unit skills, elements, enclosure effects, terrain advantages, and other battle tactics to lead your side to victory! All nations, knights, and monsters in the game will continue to battle and grow as you do. The game is also packed with other ways to grow your armies such as classes, equipment, and various items.

While it may lack the accessibility or even the swifter pace of other titles, it still manages to deliver a strategy roleplaying experience that is largely good on all fronts, supported by six distinct kingdoms and storylines. As long as you can accept that it might feel repetitive in a long game, Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia is an experience worth trying out.

I may wish the attacks themselves were more exciting or that the story had more payoff but those who are fans of both traditional strategy RPGs and more PC style strategy titles will still find this interesting hybrid worth a look.

The gameplay mechanics are enjoyable, but this port has ignored the mouse and the PC’s range of keyboard inputs. The lack of a streamlined user experience leaves this game feeling slow and clumsy compared to PC-native titles. A good title, but not a great fit for the PC in its current state.

CostaEven with a conservative concept regarding the classic Brigandine, and also considering that it is a lower-budget project, Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia deserved more polish, especially in the in-game visuals and in several aspects of its gameplay that lead to be problematic and/or limited in much of what it does as both a macro-scale strategy game and a tactical RPG. However, the game has new features in its PC version that increase its replay factor, it has a good musical environment, a good connection between the types of gameplay in GSG and TRPG, and it is above all well written and illustrated. For these reasons, it's a title recommended for fans of the PlayStation classic, fans of high fantasy stories and anyone who wants to experiment with macro-strategic elements in TRPG, as there aren't many titles with this concept.
