But whether you’re doing those soul-crushing tasks in a meta way or not, the game is still making you do them – and making you do them over and over again to uncover a secret that, really, isn’t all that interesting. Crush House tries its hardest to make it all seem fascinating, but, ultimately, there’s just not enough here to make it so.

Despite The Crush House’s flaws with characterization and storytelling, I can’t deny that I was strongly compelled by its narrative. While parts of the core gameplay feel dissonant from the premise of the game, it rarely spoiled the fun I was having whilst playing. If you’re looking for something a little different this year, you could certainly do a lot worse.

The game’s unique concept and narrative depth are its strongest points, offering a fresh and intriguing experience. However, the gameplay can become repetitive, and the limited time frame for each season restricts the depth of character interactions and story progression. Despite these shortcomings, the game’s visual style and replayability make it a solid choice for mystery enthusiasts.
