F1 2020 (2020)

It becomes more and more obvious that we're at the end of a generation. Thus, games are starting to suffer. However, Codemasters handled these problems pretty well and brought some nice updates to The Queen of Motorsports official videogame. My Team mode breathes a new life into the F1.

F1 2020 has taken key fundamentals from previous iterations and built upon a strong foundation to include a stellar, engaging and fantastic My Team career mode. The authenticity of the product has also continued to live up to the high standards set by the predecessors and the inclusion of split screen multiplayer as well as the options for more casual modes of play has made F1 2020 not only incredibly accessible for newcomers but also new and varied for veterans of the franchise. This is easily the best F1 game to date and contender for one of the best simulation racers of the generation.

Codemasters has been improving the official F1 saga, delivery after delivery, for 10 years, and culminates it with this F1 2020. A well-deserved tribute to Michael Schumacher that is more complete than ever and can reach more audiences with its new modes casual, local multiplayer and creation of "My Team" where you can manage it apart from competing on the circuits themselves. It can be enjoyed with a pad but where it shines the most and becomes essential is with a set of steering wheel + pedals.

F1 2020's career mode provides an impressive level of depth while the new driver assists make the game more accessible for new or inexperienced players. The simulation-style may be overwhelming at first, but extended playtime leads to an enjoyable experience. However, the AI and inconsistent penalties cause frustration, as do the occasional crashes. Ultimately, Codemasters created a platform for F1 fans to revisit history or create a legendary career.

The tracks in general still feel and look amazing, the sounds of the cars are still high quality as always (nothing compared to the sounds of the cars back in 2008), the gameplay is still addicting and fun, I also gave that new assisted driving mode a try, where it aggressively helps you stay on the racing line. When I tried this just to see what its like, I immediately turned it off, obviously I wouldn't need that since I've played these games for years but I personally don't think it's a good thing to use for new players, they should just jump in and get used to the games mechanics as it is.
